OUGD404 - Book Binding
One of the simplest methods of
book binding is using PVA glue down the spine of a book or publication to seal
all of the pages together. In order to do this effectively; all pages must be
gathered so that they meet flush at the spine. Then the pages must be placed so
that the spine is a few cm over the edge of a table and a heavy book or object
can be placed on top to keep it in place. After this a few layers of PVA are
adhered to the spine, one after the other, once the previous layer has dried.
To improve the strength and resilience of this book binding method, 'buckram'
material can be glued to the spine.
