Brief 3 – Final Crit
The feedback from our final crit was really useful
because it gave me an idea of what I should work on before our hand in on Friday.
In general, I was really quite pleased with my feedback; I had a mock up type specimen
which people gave some good feedback on. The feedback I got to help me improve
my work was as follows:
·
The legibility of my typeface is better in
my lighter font so I could mention in my specimen which weights of my typeface
function better for different purposes.
·
I should explain in my specimen, how I developed
this idea and where it came from so that people can see how it relates to my
theme – ‘Evolutionary’.
·
Possibly add more contextual research
within my rationale.
I definitely agree with the feedback I got and
will make the changes before I digitally print my final specimen today. To address
the size and legibility of my typeface I will add in a paragraph on one page
about the contexts my typeface could apply to and more specifically what the
different fonts could contextually apply to.
To explain how my idea came about, I will add in a
middle insert, made of smaller pages, explaining the grid system and how the
start and finish points relate to positive phototropism in plants and how they
grow towards their light source.
To improve my contextual research references I will
add in which typeface I developed mine from – Helvetica – and look into some
more contextual research points such as designers or typographers.
