OUGD404 - Silent Critique
Overall the feedback from my critique was very positive which was encouraging having developed my designs considerably recently. On the whole, people said my designs were strong, well researched, contemporary and fitted the mandatory requirements of the brief well.
I also got some very useful constructive criticism, most of which referred to the cover for ‘Selected Poems’ by e.e. cummings; the comments made about this were that it was too hard to read and that the grid system needs to be refined. I think upon further inspection I can find a good balance between style and legibility because although the arrangement of typography does reflect cummings’ visual poetry which is fairly abstract, the cover should still retain a level of clarity. Another piece of little technical advice was to alter the tails of the outlined e’s so that they didn't intersect with the eyes.
On the whole, taking my designs forwards towards completion, I will consider the legibility of the cumming’s cover mostly, however refine small details on all the covers.
