When presented with 2 ideas, the movie app and the Spotify time capsule extension, the group critique provided useful feedback, indicating that the Spotify app was the best idea. A good idea was to add in a lyric meaning function powered by Genius, who’s website does that already, and they currently do the behind the lyrics function on Spotify. The lyric meaning function works with the app well because the main demographic of the app will be people who are really into music and would want to learn about that sort of thing. Another idea had after the crit, was if you could save your favourite moments on the main feed of albums released, and cultivate your own musical timeline of favourite album releases and moments in musical history.
The main thing to be considering now, is how to design the app to have a bespoke and well designed feel, while still retaining the feel and aesthetic of Spotify. A good idea would be to let the different district visual styles of different eras of music, inform the design, be it psychedelic typography, or punk collage.
