Abbey Sans - Development


Continuing on with the theme of the letterforms being split in half to some degree and also trying to reference psychedelic typefaces to some degree, in this method here, the letterforms have literally been split in half horizontally, vertically and diagonally. Then to refine the letterforms, the jagged misaligning edges have been curved to meet which ultimately did create curved shapes similar to psychedelia. While the horizontal and diagonal splits on the letters weren’t too successful, the vertical split created something interesting results with these particular 2 letters standing out:




I’m quite happy with the way this process has gone and the obvious thing to do now is to apply it to more letterforms and see if it works as well. I’m not sure which of the 2 variants will work best with the whole alphabet so I will probably try both.
