I took a look at the symbols used on ordinance survey maps. A lot of them covered locations and geographical features that are less city based, however I did circle the ones that I think I would come across walking around Leeds. I think if I am to pursue this symbol idea, I will have to create symbols more relevant to the city, maybe even specific to leeds, my next port of call for research would be to map specific routes and what I came across one the way.
